Barbara J. Ruff, age 86 of Country Bay Village, Pigeon and formerly of Royal Oak, passed away Sunday evening, November 2, 2014 at Stoneleigh Residence in Lansing.
She was born in Detroit on November 17, 1927, and was the only child of William and Thora (Jacobson) Ferris. She graduated in 1945 from Denby High School. On June 2, 1947 she was united in marriage to Ernest Jack Ruff in Angola, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2008.
Barbara was a homemaker throughout her lifetime. She was a very active member with the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Royal Oak. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening. She was a member of Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon.
She is survived by five children: David Charles Ruff and his wife Linda of Harrison Township, Kathleen Ruff and her husband Michael Boardman of Mason, Marilyn Jean Ruff and her husband Gregg Walter of Souderton, Pennsylvania, Paul Ernest Ruff and his wife Kerry of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Karen Louise and Craig Barnhart of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon, with Rev. Timothy Loehrke, pastor, officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Cross Lutheran Church, Cross Lutheran School, or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
