Barbara Jean Rumph

Barbara Jean Rumph of Caro, formerly of Lewiston, age 91, passed away on November 22, 2023 at her daughter’s home, with her family by her side. Barbara was born October 19, 1932 in Flint, the daughter of the late Lee and Mary (Steward) Cox. On November 14, 1953, she married James Francis Rumph in Caro. Together they shared nearly forty-six years and countless memories, sadly he preceded her in death in October 1999. She worked for many years as a press operator in the automotive industry and at the Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Lapeer and Wahjamega. Barbara was wonderful at crocheting, crafting, and cooking. She was always on the lookout for a trinket to add to her chicken collection. Barbara loved all animals, especially watching and feeding the birds, and she enjoyed her time outside gardening and camping. Above all else, Barbara loved her grandchildren, she would do anything for them.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her children & their spouses, Barbara A. & John Malloy, Tina & the late James L. Rumph, Corriena & the late David Ross, Gale Forys-Kennedy, and Emma Pavlawk-Farmer & Michael Farmer; grandchildren & their spouses, Mark & Leticia Malloy, Jeremy & April Malloy, Amanda and Melissa Rumph, Sarah Brockett and her mother, Kim Arnold, Kathy and David Ross, Timothy Forys, and Dennis M. Pavlawk; and great-grandchildren, Kristen and Courtney Malloy, Brooke and Logan Malloy, Scarlett, and Madison Enos. In addition to her parents, husband, son, and son-in-law, Barbara was preceded in death by her grandsons, Daniel Ross and Robert Forys.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Compassus Hospice for the compassionate and excellent care provided to Barbara. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Johnny Burke Childrens Foundation in Frankenmuth, Compassus Hospice in Cass City, or a charity of the donor’s choosing. To keep Barbara’s memory alive, she would like everyone to spend as much time as you can with family, because you just never know how much time you have.
