Beatrice Elaine Elenbaum of Unionville, age 99, passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at New Hope Bay Assisted Living in Bay City, just a little more than two months shy of her 100th birthday. Beattie was born March 11, 1925 in Kilmanagh, the daughter of the late Otto and Alma (Thede) Kundinger. On November 11, 1944, she married the love of her life, Donald Elenbaum, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around their farm, their faith, and their family. For over fifty-eight years, Beattie embraced the joys and challenges of being a farmer’s wife. Whether driving tractors, preparing hearty meals for the crew, or delivering food straight to the fields with a warm smile, Beattie found fulfillment in every aspect of farm life and partnership with Don.
A devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville, Beattie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She actively participated in the Ladies Aid Society, finding joy in serving her church community and fostering lifelong friendships.
Beattie will be remembered for her dedication, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
Left to cherish Beattie’s memory are two daughters, Marilyn Calopisis and her husband, James, and Marsha Bauer; four grandchildren and their spouses, Shelly & Marc Wolff, Derek & Amy Bauer, Vanessa Burrows, and Dana & Kyle Brown; six great-grandchildren, Kayla and her husband, Tyler, Alexis and her husband, Kyle, Ethan, Evan, Avery, and Jonah; one great-great grandson, Andrew; and one great-great-granddaughter soon to arrive. In addition to her parents and husband, Beattie was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel, Aldine, and Eunice; and her brother, Walter.
Beattie’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of New Hope Bay Assisted Living and Transitions Hospice for the exceptional care and loving support they provided during her time with them.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville with Pastor Steve Stolarczyk officiating. Private burial will take place at Demorest Cemetery in Akron. Beattie’s family will be present to receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church General Fund or Cardinal Wishes.
