Benny Carter, age73, of Sebewaing, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017.
Benny was born in Fairdale, West Virginia on December 17, 1943, to the late Herbert Carter, Sr. and Opal (Beckelhammer) Carter. He married Betty Weisenbach on February 19, 1966, at Assembly of God Church in Sebewaing. He worked as a welder and retired from Thumb Truck & Equipment in Pigeon. He enjoyed maintaining his own garden, watching the Detroit Tigers and spending time at the ball field watching his grandson, Braden. He could always find something to "tinker" on and had a HUGE collection of hammers.
Benny is survived by his wife, Betty; children: Brenda Carter, Barry Carter, Billy (Lori) Carter; grandson, Braden Carter; step granddaughter, Stephanie (David) Craig and sons; siblings: Jerl Carter, Buster (Dreama) Carter, Bill Carter, David Carter, Mary Ann (Ron) Maynard, Rose McMillian, Betty Goode and many nieces and nephews.
Benny is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Jack Carter, Robert Carter, Herbert Carter, Jr. and John Carter.
Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2017, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.
The funeral service will be Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the funeral home. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will take place at Assembly of God Cemetery in Sebewaing.
Memorial donations may be given to the family or Assembly of God Church.
