Benson B. Page Sr. age 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 23, 2011 after a period of declining health. Benson was born September 27, 1923 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the son of the late Benson and Myrtle (Netherton) Page. He was united in marriage with Christine E. Massey on March 14, 1942. Following their marriage, he served with the U.S. Marines during WWII from 1943 to 1945 and was stationed in the Philippines. After the war, he joined his wife in the down river Detroit area and worked as a welder, mechanic, and collision repairman until he joined the Lincoln Park Police Department in 1951. He worked his way through the ranks to the position of Uniform Lieutenant before retiring. He was an avid marksman and a member of the Lincoln Park Police Pistol Team. After retirement from the police department in 1976, he and his wife Christine moved to Weaverville, North Carolina to assist her parents on their farm. From there he returned to Lincoln Park and took a job as Emergency Management Director for the City of Lincoln Park from 1981 to 1984. They moved from Lincoln Park to Caro in 1987. His beloved wife of over 67 years preceded him in death on July 3, 2009. Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Benson and Nancy J. Page Jr. of Caro, Donald & Connie Page of Lincoln Park; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Edna Massey of Caro and one nephew, Michael Buckner of Caro. In addition to his wife, Benson was preceded in death by one sister, Gertrude Foglia.
