Bernard "Ben" Gawrylowicz

Bernard "Ben" Gawrylowicz of Vassar, age 77, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023. Ben was born March 12, 1946 in Detroit, the son of the late Felix and Hilda (Johnson) Gawrylowicz. He was united in marriage with the former Mary Burza on April 20, 1968 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, and she survives. Ben was employed with Buick as a final engine assembly and served as an alternate committee man, retiring in 2000. He was a member of GWRRA for more than thirty years. Ben enjoyed camping, golfing, NASCAR (especially car #3), and going to drag races. He thoroughly enjoyed time spent with family and giving his favorite son-in-law a hard time. Left to cherish Ben's memory are his loving wife of more than fifty-four years, Mary Gawrylowicz; two daughters and their spouses, Kathy & Patrick Moore of Caro, Chris & Mike Jozwiak of Vassar; four grandchildren and spouses, Sydney & Dakota Zapfe of Caro, Alexis & Tim Millerov of Seymour, Tennessee, Austin & Selena Moore of Mayville, Brandy Gronowski & Sam Kolacz of Cass City; two great-grandchildren, Greysen Millerov and Maverick Zapfe. In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by one brother, Robert "Bubba" Gawrylowicz. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Andrew LaFramboise officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro at a later time with military honors afforded by the U.S. Marine Corps and Caro American Legion Post #7. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation.
