Rev. Bernard A. Prosser, age 87, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw, following a period of declining health. He was born on June 2, 1923 in Brownville, New York, the son of the late Curtis Franklin & Alice Irene (Ayers) Prosser. Following his graduation from high school and service in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe, he was united in marriage with the former Mildred D. Gavin on April 5, 1947 in Schenectady, New York. Bernard started preaching in various Nazarene churches in 1961 and became an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene in 1968. Rev. Prosser and his wife were very active with the Church of the Nazarene in both the states of New York and Michigan. Rev. & Mrs. Prosser came to Caro in 1987 from his last assignment in Fairgrove, and lived here since. His beloved wife of over fifty-five years preceded him in death on March 3, 2003. In these last years in Caro, Bernard was a very active member of the Vassar Church of the Nazarene and a life member of the Caro VFW Post #4164. Bernard is survived by three children and their spouses, Douglas G. Prosser and his wife, Cathy Rzeszot, of Rome, New York, Daniel A. & Dana Prosser of Boulder, Colorado, Dean & In Cha Prosser of Grove City, Ohio; four grandchildren and their spouses, Daniel & Loredana Prosser, Erin Prosser, Christopher Prosser and his wife, Lisa Wood, Matthew & Eden Prosser; six great-grandchildren, Giovanni Prosser and Ava Rose, Alice Prosser and Fiona Prosser, Colton Prosser and Shane Prosser; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Bernard was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Eastman.
