Bernice Eileen Furness, age 82, of Elkton died Saturday afternoon, October 4, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
She was born July 9, 1921 at the home of her parents, the late Culver and Margaret (Keillor) Morell in Chandler Twp.
On September 29, 1939, she was united in marriage to Stanford Furness at the Kinde Presbyterian Church. They made their home in the Village of Elkton where they raised three children. After her family had grown she worked at Hart's Flowers in Bad Axe until retiring in the mid eighties. Stanford preceded her in death October 10, of last year.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette Furness of Washington and Eileen (Gary) Slempin of Las Vegas and her son, Burton (Mary) Furness; two grandchildren, Chris and Matt and two great grandchildren, Zachary and Ashley. Preceding her in death was her brother, James Morell.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 7, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Deweerd Smith, pastor of the Community Wesleyan Church will officiate with burial in Riveside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Monday and after 10:00 AM Tuesday.
