Betty Ball

Betty Jean Ball, age 85, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. She was born on June 26, 1926 in Deford, the daughter of the late Charles and Leta (Ostrander) Silvernail, and was a lifelong area resident. Jean was a Caro High School graduate and attended Bay City Business College for one year. On December 21, 1946, Betty was united in marriage with Kenneth Ball in Sebewaing. Ken preceded her in death on June 7, 1985. Jean had been employed as a lead lady at General Cable in Cass City until her retirement, but still found time to raise her large family. She was an active member of the Snover United Methodist Church. She is survived by five children and spouses, Kenneth Jr. & Beverly Ball, Kerry Ball, Kim & Sharon Ball, Kris & Shelley Ball, all of Caro, Kelley & Rick Skinner of Vassar; twelve grandchildren, Joe Ball of Cass City, Jennifer & Larry Zapfe of Caro, Keri Rae & Don Kempisty of Owendale, Kenneth Troy Ball of Bay City, Christopher & Danyle Ball of Columbiaville, Colleen & Shane Hood of Caro, Steven & Tiffany Ball of Caro, Michael & Crystal Ball of Yale, Nichole & Steve Putman of Colorado, Nicholas Ball & Chelsie Johnson of Clarkston, Jean Smith of Vassar, Tiffany Smith of Caro; fifteen great-grandchildren; her siblings, Carl & Ruth Ann Silvernail of Kingston, Francis Silvernail and Jo Emery of Caro; her sister-in-law, Barbara Silvernail of Mayville; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marion Bitterling; and one brother, Charles Silvernail Jr.
