Betty Ann Beedle, age 89, passed away while under hospice care on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at her home at The Rose Garden in Pigeon.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 13, 1927, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Ann Marie (Sorensen) Thompson. She and Harold "Hal" Beedle were married in Birmingham on November 20, 1948, and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1990.
In her younger years Betty loved to sew, needlepoint and knit. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed antique collecting, as well as the outdoors, boating and fishing with her husband, and bird watching. Betty was a Red Hat Lady. She loved spending time with her family, and especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. She loved her sweets and scotch and water.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sand Point, and the Mustard Seed Ladies Auxiliary at the church.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Bowlby of Caseville; daughter-in-law, Laura Beedle of Frankenmuth; grandchildren: Joseph Beedle of Elkton, Gordon Beedle of Frankenmuth, Anne Bowlby of Ferndale, and Nicholas Bowlby of Caseville; a sister, Patricia (Stan) McKinney of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Stephen Beedle; her daughter, Gayle Beedle; son-in-law, Chris Bowlby; and special friend, Pless Henry.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Pastor Michael Goforth officiating. Cremation will follow.
