Betty Lou Fritz

Betty Lou Fritz, 74, of Owendale, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.

Betty was born April 24, 1949 in Pigeon to the late Frank and Mary (Washe) Welchner.  She graduated from Owen-Gage High School in 1967.  On April 20, 1968 she married Lloyd Fritz Sr. at the Owendale United Methodist Church; he preceded her in death November 20, 2023.

Betty loved being home with family, baking and raising her grandchildren.  She was a devoted member of Potter’s House Church in Cass City.  She enjoyed camping with friends and family, reading and crocheting blankets.

Betty is survived by her children Lori Killinger of Gagetown and Mike (Sherry) Fritz of Owendale; daughter-in-law June Fritz of Gagetown; grandchildren Nichole (William) Rabun, Nicholas (Kira) Woodruff, Justin Woodruff, Dylan Fritz, Branden Fritz, Samuel Fritz, Aaron Fritz and Duncan Karl; several great-grandchildren; siblings Richard (Lucille) Welchner, Ken (Dorothy) Rathje, Mabel LeClair, Carol Naylor, Brian (Maggie) Rathje, and Gail (Jim) O’Berski.  She was preceded in death by her son Lloyd Fritz Jr, son-in-law David Killinger, siblings Carl Welchner, Theresa Conger, Elinor Miller, Mark Rathje, Ardith Elliott, and William Rathje Jr.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Wednesday, January 17th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Garth Hazzard officiating.  Burial will be in Grant Twp Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 11:00am Wednesday and continue until the time of the service.
