Betty J. Griggs, age 76, of Elkton died Tuesday evening, April 11, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.
She was born August 23, 1929, at the home of her parents in Sebewaing and lived in Huron County all her life.
On July 12, 1952, she was united in marriage to Leonard E. Griggs at the Elkton Methodist Church and after living else where for a while, they settled in Elkton in 1957.
Betty was a member of the Community Wesleyan Church and the Tip of the Thumb VFW auxiliary in Pigeon. She loved playing bingo, garage sailing, and especial her family.
Surviving are her husband, Leonard; four children, Shirley Nichols of Bad Axe, Danny (Sue) Griggs of Fife Lake, David Griggs of Owendale and Tonda (Dale) Slater of Bad Axe; seven grandchildren, Amy, Jason, Jeremy, Travis, Traci, Nicole and Tiffany; five great grandchildren, Ayeesha, Justine, Gene, Tyler and Dasia; five brothers, Frank (Gail) Burgett of Sebewaing, Don Burgett of Bay Port, Russ (Ruth) Burgett of Unionville, Bill (MaryJo) Burgett of Defiance, OH, James (Clara) Burgett of Sebewaing and three sisters, Pat (Ron) Kuhl of Sebewaing, Marie Quintel of Bay City and Lynn Burgett of CA.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Mary Jane; her parents, Norman and Minna; a brother, Duane Burgett and two sisters, Bonnie Owens and Thelma Feinaur.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, April 14,at the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Rev. Daniel Stone, pastor will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM on Thursday, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 10 AM Friday.
