Betty J. Hayward

Betty J. Hayward of Caro, age 88, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Betty was born July 16, 1932 in Shepherd, the daughter of the late Burton Allen and Una (Ellis) Converse. She was united in marriage with LeRoy E. Hayward on November 7, 1953 in Pontiac and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2016. Betty's joy was in nursing, and in early years she was employed as an LPN at Saginaw Community Hospital. A woman of great strength, she was a two-time breast cancer survivor. Although she loved being a mom, being a grandmother brought her even greater joy. She also enjoyed her dogs. Left to cherish her memory are three children, LeRoy A. Hayward of Caro, Carol "Missy" Hayward of Caro, Pam & Drew Jackson of Forest, Virginia; grandchildren, Garrett Hayward of Midland, Clarissa Jackson of Anchorage, Alaska, Lillian & Joseph Veres of Forest, Virginia, Andrew Jackson of Carmel, Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Bailee Mae Hayward, Hudson and Grayson Veres, twins Jackson and Carson Veres, and a second set of Veres twins due in August; many nieces and nephews including Dorothy Mae Munro and Burton Palmer. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Dorothy Carroll and Earl Converse. Private memorial services have been held.
