Betty J. Lockwood

Betty J. Lockwood of Caro, age 87, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Betty was born April 6, 1932 in Milligan, Tennessee to the late Dora (Penland) Slaughter. She was united in marriage with Alvin D. Lockwood on June 28, 1952 in Caro, and he survives. Betty was a consummate homemaker and found her greatest joy in caring for her family. Spare time was often spent baking, cooking, canning, and sewing. Betty is survived by her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Alvin D. Lockwood of Caro; five children and their spouses, Duane & Marilyn Lockwood of Caro, Diane Fedack of Reese, Gregory & Beth Lockwood of Caro, Kevin & Edwina Lockwood of Caro, Brian & Theresa Lockwood of Caro; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Sona Hunt of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by five siblings, Evelyn Chapman, Sagle Slaughter, Beauford Slaughter, Curtis Brown, and Mary Lou Posie. Private funeral services will be held with burial at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro.
