Betty Jane Nitz, age 82, of Tawas City, formerly of Caro, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Lakeview Manor in Tawas City. Betty was born February 26, 1935 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late James & Dorothy (Wascher) Davis. Betty married Nelson L. Nitz on May 21, 1955 and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1958. She married William Nitz and they enjoyed more than 35 years together. Betty worked as a bank teller and advanced to the position of assistant manager during her banking career. Betty is survived by one sister, Susan Mitleff and her husband, John, of Glennie; a step-sister, Jerimae Clark of Saginaw; a step-brother , William Davis, of Florida; a niece, Paralee Hendrickson and her husband, Shawn; a nephew, Stephen Rakowski; two great-nieces; three great-nephews, and one great great-neice. Beside her parents and husband, Nelson, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. Davis and a step-brother, James Davis. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove. Burial will follow at a later time at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Grace Lutheran Church.
