Betty Putnam, age 70, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2006 at home, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born November 1, 1935 in Vassar, the daughter of the late Frederick J. Ettie Mae (Sharff) Wilber. Betty was married to David W. Putnam on July 24, 1961 in Caro. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1998. For the last three years, she was engaged to Jerry Walker. Betty had been employed at the Caro Regional Center for 25 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge Auxiliary and the Caro Eagles Club Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed going to casinos to gamble, traveling in their R.V. and bowling. Betty is survived by her beloved fiance, Jerry Walker of Caro; six children and their spouses, Cheri David Lich of Kingston, Robert Barbara Fox of Reese, Teri Ward of Waterford, William Jeanette Putnam, Greg Jennette Putnam, Scott Heidi Putnam all of Caro; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Freda Wilber, Goldie Marty Halda all of Vassar, Clayton Wilber of Onaway, and many nieces and nephews.. Besides her husband, Betty was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick J. Wilber, Jr.
