Betty Jane Sy

Betty Jane Sy, age 68, of Sebewaing, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018, peacefully in her home.

Betty was born in Sebewaing on October 2, 1949, to Emerson "Spike" and Betty (Ferrel) Ballard. On June 22, 1968, she married Gary Sy, Sr., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. He preceded her in death. She worked as a Cena at Tendercare Nursing Home in Cass City for many years. Betty enjoyed playing bingo, taking care of her flowers, watching birds, playing with her dog, Chewy, and being with her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children: Gary (Sonya) Sy, Jr. of Sebewaing, Jeffrey Sy of Mt. Prospect, IL, and Scott (Sue) Sy of Unionville; grandchildren: Kayla Sy, Bailey Sy, Jessica Smith and James (Travis) Smith-Kom; great grandchildren: Adrianna Simpson and Za'Mya Smith; siblings: Gary (Connie) Ballard, Brad (Donna) Ballard, Tom Ballard and Diane Schember; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jim (Sue) Sy, Carol (Ed) Kata, Roger Sy, Dave Sy, and Connie Sy.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Sy, Sr. and her parents, Emerson and Betty Ballard.

Per Betty's request cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will take place Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 1-8pm.

Memorial donations may be given to Compassus Hospice in Cass City.
