Betty J. Taylor

Betty J. Taylor, age 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 2, 2016, at her home in Sebewaing (formerly of Caseville).

Betty was born in Sebewaing on August 24, 1922, to the late Fred and Nellie (Reed) Kothe. She married Floyd R. Taylor in Vassar on June 20, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2002. Betty worked as a nurse for many years. She was proud of being a "Rosie the Riveter". In her earlier years she was a Brownie Club leader, was a former member of the Eastern Star, and she and Floyd enjoyed traveling across the country on their motorcycle. Betty had a deep love for animals and enjoyed making and painting ceramics.

Betty is survived by her children: Tyrone (Sandra) Taylor of Sebewaing, Todd (Laurie) Taylor of Fargo and Robert (Amy) Taylor of Sebewaing; grandchildren: Steven (Dawn) Taylor, Troy Taylor, Tina Taylor-Gage, Dawn (Greg) Mayer, Robert Johns, Kimberly (Mario) Sanchez, Lucas Taylor, Joshua (Elizabeth) Taylor, Sarah (Kyle) Mowry, Heather Taylor, Ben (Christie) Smith, Nathan Smith, Jessie Estep and LeeAnn Holsworth; 24 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Taylor; her parents: Fred and Nellie Kothe; and her siblings: Dorothy, Eva, Mabel, Veneta, Ethel, Eldine, William and Donald.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 11am until the time of service at 12 noon.

Memorial donations may be given to the Sebewaing American Legion Post #293 or the Thumb Animal Shelter in Elkton.
