Beverly Marie (Sharpsteen) Dressler, age 90, passed away at her home at Country Gardens in Pigeon, on May 4, 2018. Beverly was born February 2, 1928, in Sebewaing, the daughter of Jacob and Rosamond (Ackerman) Sharpsteen. Beverly attended the Sebewaing High School and graduated in 1945.
On February 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Victor Herbert Dressler by Rev. List at the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage. The young couple moved to Pigeon on a farm and farmed it for many years. In 1985 they moved back to Sebewaing to retire. Beverly worked as a cook for the Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port school system for 14 ½ years. She loved to do fancy work and always kept her hands busy.
Beverly is survived by her four children: Dennis and Bonita Dressler of Greenfield, IN, Larry and Treva of Akron, MI, Dale and Candace Dressler of Brighton, MI and Connie (Dressler) and Jim Hollingshead of Bay Port, MI. six grandchildren: Jennifer and Paul Durham of Greenfield, IN, Kristie and Gary Knowlton of Milan, MI, Adam and Julie Dressler of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, Casey Dressler of Greenfield, IN, Benjamin Nieschultz of Birch Run, MI, Sally and David Newland of Otisville, MI; grandson-in-law, Tarek Salama of Bradford, OH; one step grandson, Jason Hollingshead of Flint, MI; five great grandchildren: Liberty and Levi Durham of Greenfield, IN, Trevor and Ethan Knowlton of Milan, MI and Joshua Dressler of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, one sister-in-law, Phyllis Sharpsteen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; her parents; her infant brother, Jacob Ealy; brother, Fredric Sharpsteen; two brother-in-law's and their wife's: Harold and Doris Dressler and Walter and Ruth Roemer; two grandchildren: Joshua D. Dressler and Sarah Dressler; and great grandson, Cameron Knowlton.
Visitation will be Monday, May 7, 2018, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, from 3-8pm.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am with Rev. William Mayhew officiating.
Burial will be at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing.
Memorials may be given to New Salem Lutheran Church or St. John's Lutheran Church in Pigeon.
