Beverly Jean Johnson

Beverly Jean Johnson of Caro, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Bev was born November 18, 1936 in Detroit to the late Betty Jean Kemp. She celebrated thirty-four years of marriage with Ward Johnson before his passing on November 12, 2015. Bev worked for many years at the Caro Medical Clinic for Dr. Touma and later for Caro Community Schools in the transportation department. When Bev and Ward moved to Houghton Lake, she took a position with Glen's Markets and later, Walmart. While in Houghton Lake, Bev volunteered for many years with a hospice agency and would often visit residents of a local nursing home. She enjoyed many winters with Ward in Gulf Shores, Alabama and was active with the Doe's Club and Knights of Columbus Council in Houghton Lake. Bev will be remembered for her selfless and kind spirit. She was always willing to help someone in need and could bring a smile to anyone she encountered. Bev is survived by her children and their spouses, Greg & Annette LaPratt of North Branch, Sue & Dean Johnson of Caro, Jeff LaPratt & Dawn Roth of Caro, Nancy Johnson of Arizona, Tony & Dana Johnson of St. Clair, Jill & Bob Ramponi of Alaska, Joni & Tom Robinson of Arizona; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Robert & Jo Kemp of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with Bev's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at a later time at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro.
