Brett Vincent DeLong or, "Papa", age 61, passed away with his family by his side at United Hospice of Marlette, March 29, 2024 following a brief battle with cancer.
Brett was born March 31, 1962, to his loving mother, Dorothy (Wildman) DeLong. He attended Unionville-Sebewaing Area School, where he said, "ninth grade was the best three years of his life." He loved hunting, fishing, model airplanes, remote control cars, performing as an amateur magician, and making many, many friends. Everywhere he went, he had the gift of gab, to put it lightly. He belonged to the Jaycees and to the Thumb Billies motorcycle club. He owned a bike repair shop in Sebewaing in his younger years, he also worked at Michigan Sugar Factory, delivered phone books for Michigan Directory for many years, was a part of the Pigeon volunteer fire department, drove beet truck occasionally for Jade Farms in Pigeon, and in 2007, he started Papa's Pizza, which he owned and operated for 12 years.
Papa is survived by his beautiful daughter: Ashley (favorite son-in-law Joe) Homrocky, fur grandkids: Bubba, Fred and Gabby, all of Sebewaing; his kitty daughters: Maggie, Baby, and KitKat, of Pigeon; his sister Wendy (Ed) Orzel, of Sebewaing; the mother of Ashley and his caregiver as of recently, Spike (Scott) Stauffer of Bay Port, and many nieces and nephews that he loved very much. He is also survived by his dear, caring friend, Linda Wolfram of Pigeon, who meant a lot to him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Duddie; daughter, Alissa; aunt, Jean Miller; his good buddy, Odie Tumms; and his fur grandpup, Zoey Jane. He was very excited to see them all again, and give Zoey a whole bag of cheeseburgers from her Grumpa.
"It's always somethin.'….Never Nothin'" -Brett DeLong
