Bruce Lowell Crow, age 82, of Unionville, passed away at his home on April 17, 2024.
Bruce was born in Detroit on January 6, 1942. He helped run his dads bowling alley and owned a restaurant. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, enjoyed his cars, visiting with family and eating at local restaurants. Bruce is survived by many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: Lowell and Helen (Johnson) Crow.
An old newspaper article featured Bruce's story. Bruce requested this be his obituary write up when he passed away.
Returning Home Near Old Mine
Coal Mine Corner – A man who went to grade school in Unionville while helping his father run a general store here at Coal Mine Corner, is now at the age of 30, going into business for himself on the same corner.
Bruce Crow was two years old when his father, Lowell, moved from Detroit and bought the general store by the shale pile in Tuscola County, on the curve on M-25 two miles west of Unionville.
During the 1940s, Lowell Crow acquired other parcels of land here, but in 1956, when Bruce was in the seventh grade, he sold the store and moved his family to West Branch, where he purchased a bowling alley. Lowell built a new bowling alley, Ogemaw Lanes, in 1957 and operated it until this summer when he sold it to Jack Schubert. Then Lowell retired.
Bruce moved back to Cole Mine Corner and built a restaurant. He says the restaurant will be "self-service, where customers go up and buy their food over a counter". However, there will be tables inside. (Part of the article was cut off)
The funeral service will be Wednesday, April, 24, 2024 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 12noon. A luncheon will follow. He will be buried privately next to his parents in Demorest Cemetery, Akron Twp.
