Bruce Leroy Farver

Bruce Leroy Farver of Elkton, age 92, went to be with his Lord and was reunited with his beloved wife Betsy on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Covenant HealthCare – Harrison in Saginaw. Bruce was born in his family home in Elkton on September 8, 1933, to the late Floyd and Dorothy (Furness) Farver and graduated from Elkton High School. After high school, Bruce enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country as a corporal with the 187 Airborne Infantry Regiment “Rakkasans” during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954.

Bruce drove trucks for 7 Up for a time until beginning work as a tool and die maker for Elkton Tool and Die, then retired as a supervisor at Sebewaing Tool and Die. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth “Betsy” Forster on February 11, 1956, and the couple spent over 62 years of loving marriage building a large, beautiful family together until her passing on December 8, 2018. In his free time, Bruce relished the chance to be outdoors, hunting and fishing through the area. He was a deeply faithful man who loved the Lord and was very social, enjoying the time he was able to spend playing cards and cracking jokes with his beloved friends and family.

Bruce is survived by children, Brion Farver, Laura (Gerry) McIvor, Lezlie (Bob) Zielinski, Susan (David) Bouck, and Kelly (Tim) Ferguson; grandchildren, Becky, Danielle (Tim), Sara, Leah (Chris), Aaron (Debbie), Jamie (Jerime), Jason (Jessica), Lindsay (Steve), Nathon (Shelly), Matthew (Jenn), Joshua (Adrienne), Eric (Danielle), Kayci (Tony), Jacob (Katie), and Seth (Adrienne); 34 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy (Art) Carpenter and Margie Kanaski; brother-in-law, Kevin Forster; and sisters-in-law, Marge Farver, Rose Farver, Mary Jo Kosinski, and Rhonda Matelski; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, countless friends, his two beloved cats, and the second family he came to love at the Hitching Post, especially the owner Jeff Daniels.

Bruce was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Cindy Chappel Farver; grandson, Ryan; grandson-in-law, Jason; great-granddaughter, Keagen; brothers, Ronald Farver and Merlin Farver; brothers-in-law, John Kanaski and Robert Forster; sister-in-law, Judy; and niece, Tari

In accordance with Bruce’s wishes, cremation is to take place. A prayer service and military honors will be held for Bruce at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Ransford Funeral Home – Pigeon, 7356 West Michigan Avenue, with a memorial gathering to follow until 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, with checks payable to Lezlie Zielinski.
