Bruce H. Gilbert age 84 of Chandler Twp. died Sunday morning, August 10, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe.
He was born January 19, 1930 at the home of his parents, the late William and Lila (Inman) Gilbert in Chandler Twp.
Bruce was a milk hauler and farmed until 1954, when he was inducted into the US Army. When he returned home in 1956, he continued farming until retiring in 1994.
On August 17, 1957, he was united in marriage to Alice B. Block at the Kilmanagh Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Bruce attended the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church and enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting and spent his winter’s ice fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Alice; four children, Connie (Tom) DeSimpelare of Columbiaville, Donna (Ken) Murawski of Port Austin, Gary Gilbert of Caseville and Joyce (Erik) O’Connell of North Branch; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel, Joshua, Jessica, Jason, Paige and Allie; his sister, Nancy (Bill) Chappel of Pinnebog; sister in law, Ruth Gilbert of Grant Twp and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were four half brothers, Robert, Homer, John and Jerry Bouck; a brother, Charles Gilbert, two sisters, Gloria Bachand and Marilyn Gilbert and a nephew, Tim Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 13, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton with burial in Colfax Twp. Cemetery, Bad Axe.
Friend may call from 2 to 8 PM Tuesday and after 10 AM Wednesday.
