Bruce Roy MacAlpine, 77 of Bay Port, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.
Born in Cass City on February 27, 1936, he was the son of the late Delbert and Ardiss (Jarvis) MacAlpine, and graduated from Owendale High School. On July 13, 1963 he was united in marriage to Mary K. Hawkins in Owendale and she preceded him in death on September 30, 2000.
Bruce drove truck throughout his working career. He owned and operated Bay Port Express Truck Company and retired from Bulkmatic after driving 25 years for them.
He enjoyed driving his pickup truck around the towns and talking and visiting with people at the local area coffee shops. He also loved going to the Dairy Queen. Bruce dearly loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, John MacAlpine of California and Steven (Catherine) MacAlpine of Auburn; two daughters, Katherine (James) Pionk of Bay Port and Betsy (Greg) Benda of Pigeon; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Zachary, and Natalie; a brother, Robert (Caroline) MacAlpine of Glendale, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Elder Kathy Swartzendruber and Elder Ervin Haley officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Grandlawn Cemetery.
