Bruce Gerald Wieland

Bruce Gerald Wieland of Caro, age 84, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at home with his loving wife by his side. Bruce was born on December 10, 1936 in Caro, the son of the late Harold and Gladys (Pringle) Wieland. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1955 and the following year married his high school sweetheart, Carol Hudson, who survives. For the first seven years of his marriage, Bruce worked for L.E. Meyers where he gained his journeyman tree trimming card. In 1963, he graduated from Detroit Barber College and founded Wielands Barber Shop in Caro with his brother, Stu. After nearly fifty years as a barber, Bruce retired in 2013. He was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church, past master of the Mt. Moriah Lodge #226, and a member of the Caro Moose Lodge #1049. Bruce and Carol created many fond memories throughout their sixty-five years of marriage, including traveling to all fifty states, Jamaica, Mexico, and Canada. Bruce is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Carol; three children, Kelly Sakuta and her husband, Dale of Caro, Bruce Wieland, Jr. of Caro, and Michael L. Wieland and his wife, Geri of Blue Springs, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Matthew Sakuta, Brett Sakuta, Anjela (Wieland) Bussey, Bruce Wieland III, Madison Wieland, Zachary Wieland, and Jacob Wieland; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Bussey and Edison Sakuta; one brother, Stewart Wieland, and his wife, Jeanne; niece, Tracy Carpenter and her husband, Michael; nephew, Scott Wieland and his wife, Sarah. In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by a daughter and her husband, Kris Anne & Richard Harris; and a grandson, Nicolas Sakuta. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Dr. Tony Tomasino officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
