Budd W. “Tinker Budd” Elenbaum, age 87, of Pigeon went to be with his Lord, Sunday morning, July 24, at his home while under hospice care and surrounded by his family.

He was born June 15, 1929 in Winsor Twp. at the home of his parents, the late Merrill and Wilma (Terrill) Elenbaum. Budd grew up on the family farm on Brown Road, and was a 1947 graduate of Pigeon High School. He furthered his studies at Michigan State in agriculture.

On June 17, 1950, he was united in marriage to MaryLou Knechtel at the Elkton EUB Church.

Budd started a welding business in the 50’s and Thumb Truck and Equipment in the 60’s, making tractor pulling sleds that were used all over the state. He retired in late 90’s, turning the business over to his son Daryl.

Budd was a man of strong faith, he and MaryLou had gone to Haiti to do mission work, was involved in Forgotten Man Ministries, the Gideon’s, the Men’s Chorus and loved playing his accordion. He spent the winters in Bradenton, FL the past 15 years and enjoyed speaking to the inmates.

He was an active member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and the Community Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Marylou; children, Daryl (Sharon) Elenbaum of Sebewaing, John (Rhonda) Ellenbaum of Sebewaing, Emily Clarke of Waterford, Debra Elenbaum of Tamarac, FL and Marla (Carl) Heck of Pigeon; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Ron (Marilyn) Elenbaum of Mayville; in-laws, Wayne Knechtel of Bad Axe, Marilyn Elenbaum of Sebewaing, Margie Elenbaum of Sebewaing, Lyle (Naomi) Thompson of Port Huron and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Sherl “Jake” Elenbaum and Gerald Elenbaum and his sister, Norma Thompson.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 27, at the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Rev. Ean Green, pastor Rev. William Onan will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Tuesday and at the church after 10 AM Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to give a memorial might consider, Bay Shore Camp, the Gideon’s, Community Wesleyan Church or the Elkton United Methodist Church.
