Burton W. Pawlowski age 62 of Elkton died suddenly Saturday afternoon, August 13, at his home of a probable heart attack.
He was born June 21, 1949 in Harbor Beach to the late Burton and Dorothy (Collingwood) Pawlowski. Burt grew up in Harbor Beach and was a 1967 graduate of Harbor Beach High School. After high school, he was inducted in to the US Army and served in Vietnam.
On September 13, 1969, while in the service, he was united in marriage to Jane I. Benitez at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. In December of 1970, he was discharged and returned to Huron County. He was employed at Foster Oil Company, Harbor Beach. In 1972, they transferred him to the Arrow Gas Station in Elkton, where he managed it until it closed in 1980. From there in worked the parts counter at K & B Motors in Bad Axe until they closed, he continued as a parts man at Osentoski’s, Bad Axe, came back to Elkton to Varty Auto Supply, Auto Color NAPA and Ty’s Auto Parts in Pigeon retiring in May of last year for health reasons.
Burt attended St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon and had played on their softball team many years. He, with his grandson, was an avid collector of sports cards. He enjoyed playing golf, coach little football, bowling on league and listening 50’s and 60’s music. Burt spent many hours assisting with organizing and working at the car show during Autumn Fest.
Surviving are his wife, Jane; his daughter, Stephanie (Al) Kuhn of Pigeon; two grandchildren, Collin and Peyton Kuhn; his siblings, Butch (Pat) Collingwood of Manistique, Greg Pawlowski of Tucson, AZ, Madeline Ulfig of Globe, AZ, Mike Pawlowski of Greenevalley, AZ, Tim Pawlowski of Globe, AZ and Julie DeCosse of Toronto, Ont.; his uncle, Bud Collingwood of Port Huron; many nieces and nephews, and his close friends, Jack and Sandy Tyler.
A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 17, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. Rev. Fr. John Weis, pastor will officiate with interment in the church cemetery.
There will be a scripture service 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton Tuesday, friends may call from 2 to 9 PM and at the church Wednesday after 10 Am Wednesday.
