Burton A. “Smitty” Smith age 61 of Pigeon died Monday evening, August 10 at Scheurer Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
He was born October 18,1953 in Wyandotte to the late Arthur and Dorothy Smith.

After high school Smitty was employed with McLouth Steel in Wyandotte for 17 years retiring in 1987 for health reason.

He moved to Huron County in the early 90’s to work at his brother’s business.
On August 5, 1994 he was united in marriage to Brenda G Brown in Bad Axe.

Smitty enjoyed being out of doors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He could usually be found trinkering of inventing something. He loved socializing with family and friends, and was hooked on NASCAR.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda; two sons, Eric (Heather) Smith and Jeremy Smith both of Pigeon; stepdaughter, Lorien (David) Pedenelli of Traverse City; six grandchildren, Samantha, Brittney, Ryan, Abby, Madelyn and Claire; his brother, Chuck Smith of Harbor Beach and a sister, Jean (Stu) Lumley of Wyoming, ONT and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Marvin and Stu; and three sisters, Donna, Peggy and Shirley.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, August 14 at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Elder Karen Gardner, staff chaplain will officiate.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Thursday and after 10 AM Friday.
