Calvin W. Reibling, age 86, of Elkton died Sunday morning, April 3, following a long battle with cancer.
He was born April 29, 1924 on the family farm in Chandler Twp. to the late Irwin and Lillian (Steinman) Reibling.
Cal was a 1943 graduate of Elkton High School. In February of 1944, he joined the US Navy and served in the European-African area during WW II.

On December 24, 1944, he was united in marriage to Lela Heckroth at her parent’s home near Gotts Corner before his deployment to Europe.
Cal returned to farming after his service time and farmed for thirty five years. He was the Chandler Twp. Supervisor for two years and a county commissioner for 16 years. In 1986, he received the honor of being chosen Outstanding Commissioner of the State of Michigan.
He was a lifelong member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, past president of the Elkton Rotary, and active member of the Elkton VFW, Century Oaks Golf League and Huron County Farm Bureau.
Cal enjoyed sports especially, golf, vegetable gardening, mowing and caring for his yard and refinishing antique furniture. He and Lela spent many winters in Bradenton, FL

Surviving are his wife, Lela; his daughter, Nancy (Sid) Holodnick of Port Hope three grandchildren, Stefan of Grayling, Karl (Erin) of Northville and Peter (Erin) of Marquette; two brothers, Dwight (Marion) Reibling of Bad Axe and Edsel (Mary) Reibling of Winter Haven, FL; three sisters, Ileen Kuhl of Mayville, Leona (Virgil) Bixler of Fort Wayne IN and Erma Rohr of Phoenix, AZ and his sister-in-law, Grace Reibling of Elkton.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Fred, David, Arnold and Lyle Reibling.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday at the Elkton United Methodist Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Thursday and at the church after 10 AM Friday.
