Calvin Richardson, age 65, passed away at his home in Hampstead, North Carolina on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Cal was born April 1, 1956 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late Ernest and Maxine Richardson. He was united in marriage with Joanne Bednarski on August 6, 1977. Cal was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro for thirty-seven years until he and Joanne moved to Hampstead, North Carolina in 2015. He was also a member of the Sacred Heart Men's Choir and the Caro Arts Society when living in Caro and continued his membership with the Knights of Columbus in North Carolina. Cal was an 8th degree black belt with the MSU karate club and taught karate lessons for many years. He attended Delta College, obtained a degree in electronic technology, and held many certifications. Just two of these certifications were ICS Master Electrician and CompTIA Security Plus. Cal worked for Johnson Controls for twenty-eight years as a Project Manager/Senior Systems Analyst. Over the last six years, he worked at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He has been described as an example by which all who work for the government directly or indirectly should be measured. Cal was instrumental in planning for the new Division Data Center (DDC) Lab on base and his family was recently informed that the building will be named after Cal. He made a lasting impression with whomever he came into contact and was constantly told no one could replace him. Cal absolutely loved his job as it provided service to the Marines, Sailors, and civilian personnel on board at the Marine Corps base. Cal also enjoyed living in North Carolina and always said, "you can't beat the weather." Living close to his grandchildren made him especially happy. Summers were a whirlwind of people at the house to visit the beach and were such joyful times. Cal was an incredibly talented, humble, hard-working, thoughtful, intelligent, faithful, dedicated, caring, and trustworthy man. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-three years, Joanne Richardson; three daughters, Erin Richardson of London, England, Lisa & husband Daryl Mejeur and their son, Grayson, of Durham, North Carolina, Susan & husband Michael Solomich and their children, Lillian, Levi and Elijah of Durham, North Carolina; siblings, Terry Richardson of Grayling, Kathy & Nick Wittman and Becky & Jim Achatz, of Hillman, Marty Richardson of Gardnerville, Nevada, Larry & Cathy Richardson of Standish, Don & Jenny Richardson of Fairgrove, Patrick & Brenda Richardson of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews.
