Carl Leo Hiser

Carl Leo Hiser of Caro, age 92, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, while at his home. He was born in Gagetown on November 20, 1933, the son of the late Calvin and Mable (Lounsberry) Hiser. Carl attended Caro High School before enlisting in the United States Army in 1952, proudly serving his country for nearly two years.

On December 20, 1969, Carl married the love of his life, Donna Beitz, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. Together, they raised eleven children and built a life centered around family, faith, and hard work. Carl was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for fifty-six years. He worked the Blue Goose machine on the inspection line at Eaton/Grede Foundry for thirty years before retiring, while also taking great pride in being a dairy farmer.

Carl was happiest when he was outdoors, especially when he was working in his garden. Gardening remained an important part of his life through the years, and even this past summer, he maintained a beautiful garden that his family was able to enjoy.

Carl was extremely social and enjoyed visiting with his neighbors, often making his daily rounds on his golf cart and stopping to talk with anyone who happened to be outside. Everyday he would ride over to his son Brian & Bekki’s house for his daily beverage and then mosey on over to visit his grand-dogs Sully and Sonny. He never seemed to meet a stranger and always enjoyed a good conversation. On the rare occasion when he was inside, Carl could usually be found watching “the tube,” as he liked to call it.

Carl will be remembered for his old-school values, strong work ethic, respect for others, and welcoming personality. He enjoyed the simple things in life and took great pride in his family, his work, and the home and garden he cared for throughout the years.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of fifty-six years, Donna Hiser; his eleven children, Brian & Bekki Hiser, Karla Cave, Deborah Hall, Tammie Hulse, Mike Buschbacher, Frank & Tammy Bucshbacher, Kathy & Bob Head, Brenda DeBose, Jolene Wolford, Jan & Terry Histed; brother-in-law, Archie Ferguson; his thirty-three grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Yoho; three grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and his seven siblings.

Carl’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Carl will be laid to rest at Ellington Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to St. Paul Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
