Carl E. Schuette, age 76 of Elkton passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 1, of injuries received in an auto accident.
Carl was born November 22, 1926 at the home of his parents the late Chris and Sophia (Bergman) Schuette in Oliver Twp. where he still lived.
On February 7, 1948, he was united in marriage to Caroline Rosenthal at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon.
Carl’s life was happy and full. He loved his Lord, his family, his many friends and his tractors. He was a lifelong member of Cross Lutheran Church, where he held many positions over the years. He served as a member of the Sebewaing Sugar Beet board for several terms and a long time member of the Hart-Parr/Oliver Collectors Association. Carl was an innovative farmer, growing potatoes, peas and sunflower seeds and then selling them locally. In the winter, Carl stayed busy in his shop building, welding and inventing or he was out plowing snow, something he did for more than forty years.
Surviving are his wife, Caroline; two sons, Chuck (Mary) of Owendale, Chris of Pigeon; two daughters, Connie (Neil) Herford of Elkton, and Cheryl (Randy) Sturm of Pigeon; six grandchildren, Angie (Jim) Felton of Mount Pleasant, Jody Herford of Chicago, IL, her fiancé Ken Wagner, Grant (Jen) Herford of Norwalk, CT, Martin Sturm, Jenny Sturm of Pigeon, and Austin Schuette of Owendale Also surviving are four great-grandsons, Zachary, Taylor, Sloan, and Turner Felton; two sister, Hulda Baur of Bay Port, Olga (Fred) Renn of Pigeon;sisters-in-law, Viola Schuette, Gladys Schuette and Ann Schuette all of Pigeon; three brother-in-laws, Joe (Florence) Rosenthal, Walt (Millie) Rosenthal, Martin (Jane) Rosenthal and one sister-in-law, Sophie (Maurice) Van Hevel as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were seven brothers, Walter, Albert, Otto, Ernest, Edward, Herman and Ervin.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 5th at Cross Lutheran Church. Rev. Del Hudson, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to his church.
Friends may call from 7 to 9:00 PM Monday and 2 until 9:00 PM Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 10:00 AM Wednesday.
