Carl Vaughan, age 89, of Caro, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw. He was born on February 23, 1921 in Caro to the late Arthur and Flossie (Brock) Vaughan. Carl served in the U.S. Army following World War II in Japan. He married the former Esther Middleton and together they cherished 34 years of marriage. Carl loved to challenge his creative mind by tinkering in his workshop with machines and small engine repair. He also enjoyed solving iron/tavern puzzles and beekeeping. One of Carls many talents included reciting poetry and storytelling. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Caro. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Esther; one son, three daughters and their spouses, Larry Vaughan, Brenda (Ron) Rude, Kathy (Lee LaBeau) Loehr, Cherie (Dan) Rivet; one step-daughter, Lori (Tom) Roth; one step-son, Dan (Jeanie) Bills; his grandchildren, Carson Vaughan, Jaceley and Amber Rude, Aaron (Nikki) Loehr, Adam Roth, Jennifer, Julian and Jordan Bills; his brother, Charles Vaughan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Leland (Marge) Vaughan; one sister, Arlene (George) Butcher; and a sister-in-law, Dorcas Vaughan. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Caro on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. Burial will be at Almer Township Cemetery with military honors provided by the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164 and the U.S. Army. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday, August 27, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund.
