Carol Lynn Jacques

Carol Lynn Jacques of Caro, age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025 at McLaren Lapeer Region with her family by her side. Carol was born March 5, 1946 in Caro, the daughter of the late Robert and Leora (Spencer) Thayer. She worked in the healthcare industry for many years as a caregiver and owned an adult foster care home. Carol had the biggest heart that shined when she was helping others, her most recent job was working with Meals on Wheels. On May 2, 1962, Carol married the love of her life, Carlon John Jacques. Their marriage was blessed with over forty years, five children, and countless memories. Sadly, Carlon passed away in August 2002.

Carol loved all things racing, whether it was spending the weekend at the track cheering on her family or her behind the wheel winning championships, she was happiest at the track. She also enjoyed crafting, playing cards, and putting together puzzles. Carol was always up for a shopping trip or a drive out to the casino, as long as she was the one driving. She cared deeply for others and made sure to keep in touch with everyone. Carol had a heart of gold and the warmest smile. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.

Carol leaves to cherish her memory her children, Catrina “Tina Jacques” Simmons (Wade Witherspoon) and Calvin Jacques (Jessie Spencer); grandchildren, Josh Simmons (Angela Schalk-Larges), Peggy Carr, Stephanie (Codi) Vandemark, Kyle Spencer (Charity Carpenter), Zach (Meredith) Skinner, Daytona Jacques (Nick Avila), and Bryce Spencer; great-grandchildren, Deven Wilson, Samantha Hall, Jeffery Berlin, Renton Walker-Decker, Savannah and Brady Gremel, Easton and Liahm Avila, Gatlin Carpenter, Adalynn Skinner, and Baby Spencer expected this summer; sister, Patricia “Patsy” Thayer; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rose; son, Carlon William Jacques; daughter, Cathleen “Cathy” Jacques; brothers and sister, Danny Thayer, Donny Thayer, Bobby Thayer, and Wilma Thayer-Bentley-Razek.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Life Celebration.
