Carson Ray O’Dell

Carson Ray O'Dell of Caro, age 76, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, surrounded by his family. Carson was born April 27, 1945, the son of the late Clayton & Raiola (Putnam) O'Dell at their home in Gagetown. He graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1963. On June 27, 1964, he married the love of his life, EllaJane Miller, and the couple has celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage. Carson was employed by Maynard McConkey Farms in the early years of his marriage. He later worked for Rieck's Auto Parts, Whalen Construction, and retired from Cass City Oil & Gas after thirty years of service. His passion was motorcycle riding, and he was active for many years with the Cass City Gun Club. Carson enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, euchre, and trips to the casino. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Carson is survived by his loving wife, EllaJane O'Dell of Caro; three daughters, Dorinda O'Dell of Florida, Annette O'Dell (Al Hoover) of Byron, Deanna Rae O'Dell of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Shelby Stewart, Colt (Carly) Campbell, Chelsea Childers, Samantha Czapla, Karlee (Jesse) Hoffman, Cody Neuville (Kelsey Setla); eight great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Winters; sister-in-law, JoAnn O'Dell; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Carson was preceded in death by his stepmother, Doris O'Dell; one grandson, Jeremy Neuville; brother, Chuck O'Dell; brother-in-law, Marvin Winters; special cousins, Raymond & Sue Root, and Richard "Dutch" Thorp. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Brad Speirs officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or to the family, c/o EllaJane.
