Cary Vella of Caro, age 62, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Cary was born January 1, 1957 in Detroit, the son of Mabel (Gearin) Swisher and was a Caro High School graduate, Class of 1976. He was united in marriage with the former Julie Lipan on June 14, 1986 in Caro, and she survives. Cary was employed as an electrical lineman with IBEW for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2016. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most importantly, spending time with family. Left to cherish Cary's memory are his loving wife of thirty-three years, Julie; one daughter, Tracy Vella of Essexville; one son, Trent Vella of Waterford; three grandchildren, Caleah, Koda and Theron; his mother, Mabel Swisher of Caro; siblings, John Colling of Caro, Kathy & Wayne Bauer of Frankenmuth, Susie & Rodger Leask of Battle Creek; and several nieces and nephews. Cary was preceded in death by one son, Travis Cruise Vella; and two brothers, Gary and Bradley Vella. In keeping with Cary's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
