Casimer T. Lubaczewski, Jr.

Casimer T. Lubaczewski, Jr. of Cass City, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Cas was born January 18, 1943 in Detroit, the son of the late Casimer Lubaczewski, Sr. and Sophie (Dlugosielski) Lubaczewski. After graduating high school, he began a career in heavy truck repair with General Motors where he worked for over thirty years. Cas retired in September 2001 but remained a loyal member of UAW Local 668 for the remainder of his life. On August 13, 1966, Cas married the love of his life, Shirley LaPratt, at Sacred Heart Church in Caro and together they shared over fifty-eight wonderful years of marriage. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime devoted member of Sacred Heart Church, a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Consolata for the past eleven years, and proudly served as a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus for many years.

Cas felt most at home on the farm, where he spent countless hours tending to the land and enjoying the simple pleasures of rural life. A dedicated John Deere man, he especially loved cruising around the property on his Gator. Cas was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for bow hunting, particularly for deer, and cherished time spent camping and polka dancing with family and friends. When it came time to unwind, he could often be found watching Michigan State football or basketball, often with an apple fritter in hand and a cold Vernors or Cherry Coke close by.

Left to cherish Cas’ memory are his loving wife, Shirley Lubaczewski of Cass City; four children and their spouses, Christina Robak of Clarkston, Tanya & Ty Clark of Dexter, Scott Lubaczewski of Freeland, and Andre & Jessica Lubaczewski of Sterling Heights; nine grandchildren, Lauren, Alexa, Nicholas, Noah, Quinn, and Carley Robak, Zachary Clark, and Colton and Carson Lubaczewski; brother-in-law, Jack Hercliff; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Cas was preceded in death by his siblings, Leonard Lubaczewski and Joan Hercliff.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Isaac Madanu officiating. Burial will take place later in the day at Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City. Cas’ family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19, 2025 beginning at 4:00 p.m. and concluding at 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary service.
