Casimir L. Liwienski, age 74, of Caseville died Monday evening, November 10, at Scheurer Hospital following a severe heart attack.
He was born July 28, 1929, in Detroit to the late Martin and Ursula (Misiak) Liwienski.
After Cass graduated from North Eastern High School, he joined the army and served during the Korean War. Upon his return home he worked with the US Postal Service, retiring as a dispatcher in 1984 with 32 years of service. Shortly after retiring he moved to Caseville where he and his family had been coming since the early sixties.
Cass was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, the Caseville Eagles Club and the Frank Horetski American Legion Post # 499, Port Austin. He was very talented with stained glass, making windows, lampshades and ornaments, he also enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling, and all of the Detroit sports teams.
Surviving are his brother, Ted Liwienski of Caseville; and his sister, Sophia (Edmund) Szajna of Brooksville, FL; and many nieces and nephews, who all thought of him as a second father. Preceding him in death was a sister, Wanda Leiman and a brother, Henry Liwienski.
A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, November 14, at St. Roch Catholic Church. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch, will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
An Eagles service will be conducted 6:30 PM and a parish scripture service at 7:00 PM, Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville.
Memorials may be given to St. Roch Bldg Fund.
