Cathern M. Swartzendruber, 79, of Pigeon, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at home under hospice care.

Cathern was born September 4, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late James and Louise (Gregory) Noakes. She married Lowell Swartzendruber on September 22, 1963 at Central Christian Church in Indianapolis; he preceded her in death January 28, 2019.

She retired from Jackie’s Flowers in Sebewaing as a florist. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, cooking, quilting and bird watching. She was a member of Michigan Ave. Mennonite Church and Gideons. She loved taking care of her family.

She is survived by her children Jenny (Gary) Cygan of Sebewaing, Eric of Pigeon and Laura (Jeff Janes) Ewald of Caro; grandchildren Sarah (Matt) Herman, Danielle (Jason) Goslin, Justine and Lucas Swartzendruber, Kayla (Chaz) Motter, Dakota Ewald and Madison Janes; great-grandchildren Colton, Taylor, and Korbin; siblings Lola (Ed) Short, Carol (Jerry) Meredith, and Betty Basey. She was preceded in death by her siblings James Noakes Jr. and Janice Smith.

A memorial service will be 11:00am Friday, February 12th at Michigan Ave. Mennonite Church in Pigeon, Rev. Scot Wilson officiating. The family will receive visitors at church beginning at 10:00am Friday. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
