Cathy Sue Ruthenberg, age 60, of Owendale, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 14, 2023.
Cathy was born on June 3, 1963, to Clifford and Carolyn (Adamczyk) Jacoby. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School, then USA High School, graduating in 1981. After high school, Cathy attended college in Kansas, and then began her career working for the Sebewaing Farmers Co-Op. She then married Arno E. Ruthenberg on August 4, 1984, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Later the co-op merged with the Pigeon Co-operative Elevator Co. working many years in the Pigeon main office. Cathy was then recruited by Sheriff Richard Stokan to work for the Huron County Sheriff Dept. Later in life, Cathy joined the newly built Country Bay Village in Pigeon as an Activity Director/Marketing Assistant. She then felt the calling to serve Cross Lutheran School System. Her last venture took her to Even Heat Kiln Inc., working in the office in technical support, helping people all over the world.
Life was good until a tragic car accident in 2003 that almost took her life, but not her faith and fight to live. From that day forward she fought many battles with countless surgeries. Cathy never returned to the work force but remained strong to her faith and to her family. She gave support anyway she could and as a family did the same for her.
Cathy was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Unionville, serving in the past any way she could. From the WELCA, Sunday School, summer Bible classes and always baking to give to others in need.
Cathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Surviving is her wonderful loving, supportive husband and caretaker for over 20 years, Arno; two sons: Zachri (Erin) of Ithaca and Jordan of Owendale; two grandchildren: Marley and Macie of Ithaca; her mother: Carolyn and step father Dale Willer of Bay City; sister, Beth (Philip) Kuhl of Sebewaing; brother, Mark (Deana) Jacoby of Akron; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Marge Becker and Marion Kuhl and many others.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Jacoby; grandparents: Henry and Lydia Jacoby, Ferdinand and Myrtle Adamczyk; father–in-law and mother-in-law, Arno G. and Adele Ruthenberg; and uncle, Erwin Houthoofd.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Bay Shore Camp or St. Peter Lutheran Church in Unionville. If you wish to remember Cathy, do it with a kind word or deed given to someone who needs you. "Not all of us can do great things, but, we can do small things with great love."
Per Cathy's wishes cremation had taken place.
