Cecil J. Osgerby, age 87 years, of Caro, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Rendons Young at Heart AFC Home. He was born on July 18, 1919 in Reese to the late Clark W. and Margaret (Larrabee) Osgerby. On November 8, 1939, Cecil Osgerby married the former Nelda Thorp at the Kingston Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2001. Cecil was a Caro High School graduate and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He worked for Michigan Shade, delivered milk for the Caro Creamery and until his retirement he was the Store Supervisor at the Caro Regional Center. Cecil enjoyed people, playing cards, the out-of-doors, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church, Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 FAM, a 32nd degree Mason, Past Worshipful Master of the Fairgrove Lodge, WPM of Kedron Chapter #33 O.E.S. and Theron W. Atwood Sr. American Legion Post #7. Cecil is survived by three daughters, two sons and their spouses, Nancy (Don) Romain of Caro, Sharon Jaster of Caro, Janice (Tim) Haley of Vassar, Gale (Carol) Osgerby of Highland, Indiana, Tim (Deborah) Osgerby of OFallon, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Betty) Osgerby of Plano, Texas; and two sisters-in-law, Hettie Curry of Caro, Roweena Thorp of Lapeer; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary in 1943 and Clark “Mike” Osgerby in 1974; one son-in-law, Roy Jaster; one grandson, Timothy J. Osgerby; two brothers and one sister, Clare Osgerby, Jack Osgerby and Jean Hartman. The funeral service will be held at the Caro United Methodist Church on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerome Smith officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery with military honors afforded by the American Legion. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a Masonic memorial service at the funeral home Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Caro United Methodist Church.
