He was born March 18, 1933 in Caro, the son of the late Stanley A. & Olive M. (Kelly) Putnam and was a lifelong area resident. Cecil was united in marriage to the former Pauline Belowus on June 16, 1951. In 1955, Cecil was inducted in the Army and served for two years before being honorably discharged. Home from 1971 until 1991, as well as farming and operating as a self-employed stone mason. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and loved inventing household gadgets. A few days ago, Cecil put down some of his thoughts knowing that his life was nearing its end. He asked that they be included in his obituary, and they are as follows: “I didnt have much of an education. I did not lead a very exciting life, according to most standards. It was simple. I was not well known for clubs, groups or organizations. But who cared? I didnt. I lived here all my life. I enjoyed all that life had to offer, such as talking and telling my views. To some I may not have seemed well educated, but I always told people that I held the highest degree, common sense. I tried to live a decent, honest, good life. I may not have always made the right decisions. I made mistakes, for that please forgive me. I was only human. I leave my sweet beautiful wife of 57 years, whom I will meet in heaven one day.” Cecil is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Jack Putnam of Lum, Daniel Putnam of Swartz Creek, Delores Coffeen of Flint, and many nieces, nephews and special friends, Bill & Char Staughter, Leo Koval, Gina & Tom Poquette, Jessica Parks, Brad & Karen Grady and a special great great nephew, Tayden Smith In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Stanley Putnam, Jr. in 1988, Robert Putnam in 1994, Shirley Smith in 1996 and James Dale Putnam in 2007.
