Cecil King Radcliffe, age 101, of Caro, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009 at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center in Mayville. He was born on September 10, 1907 in Colling (Columbia Township) to the late David and Millie (McNeil) Radcliffe. On March 20, 1941 he married the former Laura Elenora Peters in Toledo, Ohio. Cecil had gone to the city (Detroit area) and worked in the automotive industry and the City of Detroit on Belle Isle. Locally, he worked in small shops, poultry plants, and eventually went to work at Caro State Hospital as an attendant nurse until his retirement. Cecil supplemented his income with his farm in Almer Township. He was a faithful member of the Caro Baptist Church. Cecils hunting and fishing were a lifelong endeavor. He is survived by two sons, Rodney Radcliffe of St. Francis, Kansas and Wesley (Barbara) Radcliffe of Caro; seven grandchildren, Rodney Radcliffe II and his mother, Ruth, of Decker, Kimberly Radcliffe of Minden City, Rochelle (Jerry) Connor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lt. Daniel (Lisa) Radcliffe USN OF Guam, Heather Radcliffe of New York, New York, Jason (Sharon) Radcliffe of Camarillo, California, Jennifer (Kevin) Reinecke of Palm Bay, Florida; ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Radcliffe; a brother, Keith Radcliffe; and a sister, Trix Flath. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Caro on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Caro.
