Charlene L McBride age 71, of Elkton died Tuesday afternoon, March 21, at Covenant Cooper, Saginaw after a long battle with health problems.
She was born October 24, 1945 in Bad Axe to the late Alex and Beulah (Leckenby) Parker. Char grew up in Bad Axe and graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1964.
On July 9, 1966, she was united in marriage to Phillip McBride in Cheboygan. Shortly after they married, they moved to Elkton where Phil was employed at Jake Deering Surge. In 1972, they bought the dealership, renaming it McBride Surge. She and Phil operated the business until 1985.
Char was an avid golfer and could be found on the links almost any time, she had a big heart for animals, rescuing many dogs and cats. She also enjoyed gardening and life itself.
Surviving are her husband of almost 51 years, Phil; sisters, Gail (Jim) Millgard of Port Austin, Lori Parker of Bad Axe and Renee (Larry) Pulcer of Harbor Beach; in-laws, Ken (Annita) McBride of Caro and Robert (Cindy) McBride of Bad Axe and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Deanna Sommerfeld and Bonnie Gottschalk.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation, funeral or memorial service at this time. Graveside services will take place later this summer.
