Charlene Helen Partlo, age 85, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Cadillac Mercy Hospital in Cadillac, following a brief illness. She was born on April 27, 1927 in Garner, Iowa, the daughter of the late Ray and Edith (Casperson) Sonquist. Charlene graduated from Garner High School in 1945, later graduating from Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids. Charlene was united in marriage with Richard H. Partlo on December 25, 1947 in Garner, Iowa. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Caro Regional Center and later as a nursing instructor, retiring in 1986 after twenty-three years of employment. She was a lifelong active member of the Methodist Church in Akron, Cadillac and Bradenton, Florida. Charlene enjoyed playing bridge, bingo, doing crossword puzzles, various church activities and volunteered supplying food for food pantries. While residing in Florida she enjoyed swimming. Charlene is survived by her husband of over sixty-four years, Rick Partlo; two sons and their wives, Mike & Marcia Partlo, and Mark & Cindy Partlo, all of Caro; two grandchildren, Shawn and Hanna Partlo; her siblings, June & Don King of Iowa, Vic & Karen Sonquist of Caro, Bernie Sonquist living in Texas. In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by one sister and her husband, Marcele & Verlon Grant and one brother, Duane Sonquist. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Demorest Cemetery in Akron with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the donors favorite church.
