Charles Van Allen

Charles Van Allen, age 73, passed away suddenly Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Covenant-Cooper in Saginaw. Bud was born March 26, 1934 in Dansville, Illinois, the son of the late Rev. Jack E. & Erma M. (Rutledge) Van Allen. He was united in marriage to the former Marilyn J. Spohn on November 13, 1954 in Flint. Bud was employed by the State of Michigan at the Department of Social Services for forty years in Pontiac and Flint as a case worker and later as an auditor. Bud was a devoted father who loved collecting cars, going to auto shows to buy and sell cars, and modifying them to resell. He also enjoyed antiquing, classical music, and reading. Bud is survived by his wife of over forty-two years, Marilyn Van Allen; two sons and their wives, Charles E. & Kristin Van Allen of Brighton and James & Renee Van Allen of Clifford; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Curt) Schuler of Clifford, James Eric, Jr., Joel, Dewey, Kathrin, Gabrielle, and Caroline Van Allen. Bud was preceded in death by a foster son of thirty-three years, Paul Harris, and his sister, Kay Van Allen.
