Charles E. Beyette of Cass City, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City. He was born October 6, 1924 in Caro, the son of the late Norman and Gertrude (Martin) Beyette. Chuck was a 1942 graduate of Caro High School, and attended Bay City Junior College before joining the Air Force during World War II, spending two and a half years in Italy. Chuck was united in marriage on July 30, 1948 with the former Mary Riddering at the old First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn. He received his BA, Masters and Specialist Degree in education from Michigan State University. During his career in education, he taught school in Okemos, Pontiac and ended his career in Birmingham as a Junior High School Principal. Following their retirement in 1981, he and Mary worked at making stained glass lamps and sold glass items at craft shows for the next fifteen years. Chuck has been a member of the Cass City Presbyterian Church, serving as elder and deacon on several occasions, a member of Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals, the Caro Masonic Lodge, and secretary/treasurer of the Pontiac Teachers bowling league for many years. He enjoyed traveling and camping his entire life and he and Mary would often take trips to Michigan casinos. Charles is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Mary; a daughter, Rene'e Lacombe and her children, Todd, Brett, Rianne and Rachelle; a son, Garth (Joyce) Beyette and their daughter, Brogan; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Northwood Meadows in Cass City or the First Presbyterian Church of Cass City.
