It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles David Hundersmarck, age 38, who left us on June 25, 2025 after many years of courageously battling cancer. Born on July 29, 1986, in Bad Axe, Charles lived a life filled with passion, joy, and love that touched the hearts of many.
Charles was the son of David Hundersmarck and Charlene Hundersmarck. He grew up in Bad Axe, where he cultivated his love for music and developed a zest for life that was infectious. He graduated from Bad Axe High School in 2004, setting the stage for a life filled with adventure and friendships. Those who had the privilege of knowing him admired his ability to live life at full blast, approaching everything he did with dedication and excitement. From a young age, Charles harbored a deep love of music and it quickly became a core part of his life. He found joy in connecting with others through sharing and playing music, creating lasting memories through the melodies and moments they experienced together. Although his struggles with mental health made him hard to love at times, those who knew him will remember his laughter, his kindness, and the bright, unforgettable energy he brought into their lives.
He is survived by his loving parents, Charlene and David (Agnes Talaski); his sister, Autumn Howard (Chris Hyatt); and half-sister, Jennifer Gwinner. He was a proud uncle to his niece, Zoe Howard, who inherited his love of music and his passion for life. He leaves behind his aunts, Renee Cochrane and Barbara Hatkoff; uncles, Ron and Fred Hundersmarck; and many cousins and friends who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hubert & Beatrice Hundersmarck, and Frank & Eileen Miller; uncles, Charles Hundersmarck, LeRoy Miller, and Larry Miller; aunt, Gloria Hundersmarck; and his beloved cat and faithful companion, Pumpkin.
Charles’ family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at McLaren Lapeer Region for their exceptional care during Charles' stay. Their compassion made a difficult journey a little more bearable.
To honor Charles’ wishes, there will be no service. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family, c/o 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
As we remember Charles, let us carry forward his legacy of love, passion, and joy. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
