Charles T. Knowlton

Charles Thomas Knowlton passed away at home on May 28, 2014 after an extended illness. He was born on July 12, 1928 in Pontiac Michigan, the son of the late Charles and Addie (Heath) Knowlton. He attended the Pontiac Public School system. He met the love of his life, Mary Ann Nye, at Washington Jr. High. They attended a Sadie Hawkins dance and as they say, the “rest is history”. Charles later graduated from Pontiac High School in 1947. Shortly after graduation, Charles joined the Air Force Reserve while working as a Groundman for Detroit Edison. Chuck married Mary Ann Nye on August 19, 1950. Charles was called to active duty on their wedding day. When he completed his service, Chuck and Mary Ann returned to Pontiac. Charles Knowlton resumed working for Detroit Edison, retiring as a General Foreman in 1986, after thirty-eight years. Charles never drove down a road without checking the lines! Charles and Mary Ann had two sons, Thomas and Richard. Charles taught his sons how to build, hunt, fly fish and have a passion for the outdoors. Chuck loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed his sporting dogs. One of his favorite things to do was to take his sons and grandson on pheasant hunting trips. Charles family expanded when his son Thomas married Laurie. They gave Charles and Mary Ann two granddaughters, Charlotte, now married to Jason Motz, and Kelsey, who is joined by Great Granddaughter Farra Vanderbilt. Richard married Carla and added two more blessed grandchildren, Christopher, now married to Lauren, and Heather recently engaged to Steven Spring. Charles enjoyed his membership as an Elf Khurafeh Shriner, belonged to the Mt. Moriah Lodge 226 F&AM, Caro Chapter, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Bay City, the Tuscola County Conservation Club, the American Legion Post #7, Caro Lions Club and the Elks Club of Houghton Higgins. Chuck also supported Pheasants Forever #333. He was a staunch Republican and a firm believer in The Constitution. In keeping with Chucks wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time. Those planning on expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Tuscola County Conservation Club or the Wellspring Lutheran Services.
